Early
- Mid August 2008
Wonderful
Summer weather, soon enough to be over - the crickets are
calling, the smells are thicker and the dew is heavier - we
adjust as the area around us adjusts.

Vervain |
|
Somewhat in the shape of a
candelabra, the Blue
Vervain grows tall - 5 feet or so. The site linked to is very useful
for identifying flowers in this area.

On the left, the
Perilla Mint is a plant I came across early in this project - It's
leaves turn somewhat suddenly purple in the fall As it's much more
plentiful in some years than others, it's a plant that made me aware of
how growth fluctuates depending on conditions and gave me some insight
into the concept of so called invasive plants. |
